Government Linked Universities comprising of Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP), Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL), Multimedia University (MMU) and Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN).
The Alliance of Government-Linked Universities (GLU), established in 2016, aspires to be a globally renowned alliance of industry-driven universities. It is currently represented by 4 (Four) universities which are leaders in their respective areas. The alliance works alongside the government and policy makers to ensure that conditions are optimal for private universities in Malaysia to thrive, creating the best learning environment and outcomes for their students.
Within the alliance are four pillars of collaboration namely Academic, Research, Student Experience and Sustainability. Each member university is entrusted to lead a pillar.
The academic pillar is currently led by Multimedia University (MMU), and the main aim is to develop joint sustainable academic programmes. The pillar started off with having mutually beneficial teaching and learning based events. It has now expanded to sharing of courses with students of GLU member universities.
Beginning September 2021, students of GLU universities can enrol for Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), open electives, and GLUMinor courses offered by other GLU members. Besides offering a wider spectrum of courses, this initiative provides the opportunity for students to establish the network with their counterparts from member universities, and experience their academic culture.
