For the second time this year, Faculty of Applied Communication (FAC) and Cnergy hosted another Malaysian Technical Corporation Programme (MTCP) in Cyberjaya campus recently. The MTCP programme is funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and MTCP was launched in 1980 to signify Malaysia’s commitment to South-South Cooperation, in particular, Technical Cooperation among Developing Countries (TCDC) which is based on the premise that the development of a country depends on the quality of its human resource.
17 international participants participated in the programme, and represented their respective Ministries. The participants are from Ministry of Habitat, Urbanism and City Algeria, National Modernisation Secretariat Argentina, State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture of Azerbaijan, Communications Regulatory Agency and Institute for Canton Planning Bosnia Herzegovina, President’s Office Lao PDR, Ministry of Local Government Mzuzu City Council and Local Government of Malawi, Ministry of Housing and Lands Mauritius, Ministry of Local Government and Law Enforcement – Jonglei State Bor South Sudan, Ministry of Megapolis & Western Development Sri Lanka, and Ministry of Local Government Public Works and Municipality of Masvingo Zimbabwe.
The group of trainers was led by Assoc. Prof. Dr Koo Ah Choo and all the trainers represented the Digital Cities Research Institute, and this was in line with the objectives of the programme which were exploring the knowledge model for the development of digital cities, gaining lifelong learning model and social well-being aspect for the people in the cities and acquiring the knowledge on technology-supported smart system.
