A group of eight Marketing students from the Faculty of Management (FOM) was invited by World Wide Fund for Nature-Malaysia (WWF-Malaysia) to host an environmental game session in the 7th WWF-Malaysia’s International Eco-Schools Conference (IESC). It was held at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Sungkai, Perak recently. The conference aims to empower young kids to care for the environment so they can lead sustainability-related activities as well as influence others to follow.
During the conference, five different eco-friendly concepts of board games were demonstrated and exhibited by our students named Mutiara Azman, Ramesh Raja, Muna Irsalina Mohd Jamil, Teh Wing Jun, Nurafiqah Nadhirah Mohd Fadil, Nur Syahirah Naharuddin, Ika Syahirah Ridzwan, and Md. Ahsanullah. The conference was visited by 120 Eco-Schools students and teachers, form a mix of primary and secondary schools from Thailand, Singapore, Philippines, Indonesia and Malaysia.
The school students had an opportunity to play the eco-friendly board games which were factually correct, informative and fun to play. The eco-friendly board games were developed by the students from a project sponsored by Multimedia University (MMU) Student Empowerment & Entrepreneur Development (SEED) Fund 2018, and led by the project leader, Dr. Tan Booi Chen. The project won the Gold prize under Category C-SEED in the recent MMU RICES 2018.
