On 10 November 2018, Faculty of Engineering (FOE) in collaboration with Centre for Alumni (CfA) and Student Engineering Society (EngSoc) organised the first FOE Alumni Homecoming Dinner 2018 at Bangi-Putrajaya Hotel, Bandar Baru Bangi, Selangor. This dinner served as an avenue for alumni to meet and greet MMU management committee members, faculty staff and student leaders.
Prof. Datuk Ts. Dr. Ahmad Rafi Mohamed Eshaq, the President of MMU was invited to launch FOE alumni wall of fame with a cute to be e-Bee robot and animation montage on information about the wall of fame. The event was enlightened by sharing session on ‘10000’ rules by Ir. Dr.Hafizal Mohamad, ASEAN Outstanding Scientist and Top Research Scientist Malaysia (TRSM) Award recipient as well as ‘The Power of Networking’ by Mr. Ally Iskandar, TV3 presenter.
Dean of FOE, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lee Chin Kwang expressed his gratitude to the alumni for their support to the alma mater over the years. Few alumni were invited to share their life journey, included Mr Johan Irwan Kamarozaman (Class of 2006), Founder of Leap Leadership Academy Sdn Bhd, on challenges of switching from engineering career to motivation and leadership career, Mr Ko Chuan Zhen (Class of 2008), Founder of Plus Solar, on challenges of setting up company with small funding and few staff, Mr Thiyagu (Class of 2012), Project Manager at Roots Communication SB, on keeping up with the trend in telecommunication world and Mr Tan Aik Keong (Class of 2008), Founder/Director of Agmo Studio Sdn Bhd on his journey building Apps for the world needs. The alumni shared on how education in MMU has helped them in their careers. They also reminisced their unforgettable moments and sweet memories in MMU and current professional careers.
The event ended in a warm atmosphere with many alumni wishing for another reunion activity. This private dinner brought unforgettable sweet memories by bringing together old faces, reconnect with FOE Faculty Members, building a kinship with new alumni and most importantly, to forge a strong bond between alumni and the alma mater.
