MMU through the Student Lifestyle and Experience (STyLE), awarded incentives to two exceptional student-athletes in recognition of their outstanding performances in their respective sports. The incentives were presented by Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su’ud, President of MMU at the Cyberjaya campus on 11 April 2025.
Among the recipients was archer Alang Ariff Aqil from the Faculty of Creative Multimedia (FCM), who has proudly represented Malaysia on multiple occasions. A two-time bronze medalist at the Asian Games, Alang has also claimed two gold medals at the Asian Grand Prix circuit. At the national varsity level, he has secured two gold medals in the Sukan Institusi Pengajian Tinggi (SUKIPT), further solidifying his status as a top-tier athlete.
The financial support aims to assist Alang in his preparations for his upcoming national representation at the Shanghai tournament, scheduled from 5 to 12 May 2025. His most recent international appearance was at the Bangkok competition, held from 15 to 20 February 2025.
Also receiving the incentive was long-distance runner Ruveshwaran a/l Balachandran from the Faculty of Management (FOM). A dedicated and accomplished athlete, Ruveshwaran recently represented Malaysia at the Danang International Marathon 2025, where he secured an impressive third-place finish. His consistent performance on the international stage highlights his dedication and the university’s commitment to fostering athletic excellence.
The incentives reflect the university’s ongoing support for student-athletes, ensuring they have the necessary resources to excel in their sports while balancing academic commitments. Also attending the event were Mdm Sri Kusuma Wati Mohd Daud, Director of STyLe and other MMU officers.
