The Faculty of Applied Communication (FAC) has taken a significant step in promoting sustainability education with the launch of EcoTales for the Planet on 3 February 2025 at Cyberjaya campus. This initiative, which integrates storytelling, environmental awareness, and community engagement, aims to instill a strong sense of responsibility among students towards environmental conservation.
As part of this effort, FAC has partnered with Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN) to support the construction of the Bird View Bridge in Lembur Mangrove, Tanjung Lesung, Indonesia. The bridge is expected to enhance conservation and eco-tourism efforts in the region by providing a sustainable platform for environmental education and biodiversity preservation.
In line with its commitment to sustainability, FAC successfully organised a fundraising event that raised RM4,000 to aid in the construction of the bridge. The initiative underscores the faculty’s dedication to environmental stewardship by fostering awareness and proactive participation in sustainability efforts.
EcoTales for the Planet adopts an experiential learning approach, combining storytelling with hands-on activities to engage students in meaningful ways. This initiative aligns with Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 4 (Quality Education), 13 (Climate Action), and 15 (Life on Land), further reinforcing MMU’s role in nurturing future sustainability leaders in strategic communication. With this initiative, FAC continues to pave the way for impactful environmental education, empowering students to contribute actively to a greener future.
