On 17 January 2025, the Entrepreneurship Development Centre (EDC) hosted an inspiring session titled “Personal Brand & Storytelling Skills for the Digital Age”, led by none other than Richard Ker, MMU’s esteemed eCadet Partner. The event, held at theINNOLab, attracted MMU Startup scheme recipients, student start-ups, and staff.

Participants delved into the power of purpose with Simon Sinek’s “Start with WHY” philosophy, exploring how to align their goals using The Golden Circle framework. Richard captivated the audience with insights into storytelling, demonstrating its role in crafting impactful pitches, presentations, and social media posts. The session also emphasised content creation, encouraging attendees to build an authentic online presence, provide value-driven content, and leverage social media as the gateway to their personal and professional brands.

Richard’s 10 Rules of Social Media Storytelling reminded attendees to focus on their audience, embrace authenticity, and craft content that educates, entertains, and inspires. This engaging session was a testament to MMU’s commitment to fostering entrepreneurial and communication skills, empowering participants to thrive in today’s digital world.
