On 9 January 2025, undergraduate students from the Entrepreneurship class, guided by Dr. Mohd Fairuz Abd Rahim from the Faculty of Management (FOM), had the privilege of learning firsthand from Mr. Nik Muhammad Amin bin Nik Muhammad Kamil, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and founder of Moovby. Moovby is a peer-to-peer car-sharing platform that enables individuals to rent vehicles from local car owners, revolutionizing mobility solutions in the region.
Nik Muhammad Amin, one of our distinguished alumni (Permata Dunia), studied with a Bachelor’s Degree in Electronic Engineering, specialising in Telecommunication. His passion for self-improvement led him to pursue executive courses at the prestigious Stanford University Graduate School of Business, where he honed his leadership and entrepreneurial skills. Armed with a strategic vision, technical acumen, and a strong commitment to community empowerment, he has positioned Moovby as a trailblazer in Southeast Asia’s mobility sector, championing innovation and sustainable transportation.
In his talk, titled “Should You Start a Startup?”, Nik shared invaluable insights into the entrepreneurial journey. He discussed the qualities and mindsets most suited for startup founders and emphasised practical steps to prepare for launching a business in the future. In an engaging segment, he candidly revealed six compelling reasons why some individuals may want to reconsider starting a startup—providing students with a balanced perspective on the challenges and realities of entrepreneurship.
This insightful session was part of the Permata Dunia Returns series, organised by FOM with support from Centre for Alumni (CFA). The event was also attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ong Jeen Wei, Director of Alumni, Career and Entrepreneur Development.
