On 9 January 2025, the Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET) successfully hosted its Industrial Advisory Panel (IAP) Visit at the Melaka Campus. This event marked a significant milestone in promoting collaboration between academia and industry, ensuring that the faculty’s programmes continue to meet industry standards and practices. The day commenced with a Welcoming Briefing by the Deputy Dean, followed by engaging Programme Breakout Presentation Sessions, a Lab Tour, and an insightful Exit Meeting and Closing Session.

The visit saw the participation of esteemed IAP members from various industries, offering their invaluable expertise and perspective during the discussions. The distinguished IAP members in attendance included Ir. Hayati binti Hussien, Custodian Offshore Pipeline Engineer/Head of Pipeline Design Team at Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS), Malaysia; Mr. Lim Kian En, Project Manager at EcoCeres; Dr. Chin Wai Meng, Head of Division (Development Support) at Daikin Research & Development Malaysia Sdn. Bhd.; Ir. Dr. Lim Chot Hun, CEO of BPE Synergy Engineering Sdn. Bhd.; Mr. Ong Kun Xiong, Senior Manager Test & Product Engineering at Infineon Technologies, Malaysia; Dr. Diong Kah Seng, VP of Technical Services at ZTE Malaysia; Ts. The faculty’s leadership team and programme coordinators were also present, highlighting their commitment to fostering industry collaborations. Attendees from the faculty included Ts. A key highlight of the day was the Industrial Talks delivered by two esteemed IAP members. The first talk, “Energy Transition Outlook: Sustainable Aviation Fuel,” was presented by Mr. Lim Kian En, Project Manager at EcoCeres and IAP Member for the Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) Mechanical programme. His talk provided valuable insights into the future of sustainable aviation fuel and energy transitions, inspiring attendees with the potential of the green energy sector.

The second talk, “Route to Become a Certified Technician,” was delivered by Tc. Mohamad Nor Zikree bin Mohamad Yusof, Project Delivery Engineer at TM Technology Services Sdn. Bhd. and IAP Member for the Diploma in Electronic Engineering programme. His session discussed the pathway to become a certified technician, the benefits of professional certification, and strategies for career advancement.

Both Industrial Talks were well attended, with 50 participants, including staff and students, actively engaging in the sessions. The talks provided valuable insights into current industry trends and practices, further bridging the gap between education and the workplace. The event was well received by all attendees, who appreciated the opportunity to learn from experienced industry professionals.
