Two exciting knowledge transfer programmes (KTP) were successfully organised by Faculty of Business (FOB) recently. A total of 160 primary six students from SK Paya Rumput, Melaka attended the workshop entitled ‘Road to Excellence’ at Main Hall while another 40 selected students from the same school attended a workshop on ‘Fun Learning with Creative Thinking’ at IBiz Lab. Both of the programmes were led by Dr. Kavitha Raman, Head of Human Resource Department of FOB and assisted by a group of final year BBA (HRM) students as facilitators.

The main objective of the programmes was to develop soft skills among students. The ‘Road to Excellence’ program inspired students in many ways. Apart from a motivational talk, the students were exposed to time management, goal setting and stress management skills. The students also discovered their learning styles which could help them to excel in academics. On the other end, ‘Fun Learning with Creative Thinking’ encouraged students to think creatively through various activities. Among the activities were problem solving in teams and storytelling.

In short, these programmes not only enriched the experience the BBA (HRM) students in becoming facilitators but also benefited the young children tremendously. Since soft skills are a life-long process which should be nurtured as early as possible, these programmes are believed to prepare young children to succeed in not just their academic life, but also in the workplace in future.
