The first week of January 2025 kicked off on a high note with a captivating musical theatre performance by the Theatre Arts of Multimedia University (TAMU). From 3rd to 4th January, TAMU brought the stage to life with its vibrant production, “Sorak Sorai,” held at Dewan Tun Canselor, Cyberjaya campus—a remarkable start to the new year.
Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su’ud, President of MMU, graced the event and attended the vibrant performance. The evening began with a lively presentation by the Drama Llamas, a talented group of primary school children from Sekolah Kebangsaan Setiawangsa Kuala Lumpur, setting the tone for an unforgettable experience. As part of the event, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham presented mementos to key contributors, including representatives from the Public Service Department (JPA) and Pn. Maheran Abd Halim, Principal of Sekolah Kebangsaan Setiawangsa.
The event was expertly orchestrated by Puteri Nur Adleen, a student from the Faculty of Creative Multimedia (FCM), whose exceptional organizational skills ensured a smooth and enjoyable experience for the cast, crew, and audience. The creative brilliance of the performance was brought to life by Muhammad Aiman Haziq, a student from the Faculty of Management (FOM), who seamlessly took on the roles of director, choreographer, and scriptwriter, crafting a captivating and memorable theatrical masterpiece.
Also attending the play were the founders of TAMU, including alumni Mr. Redza Minhat, the renowned scriptwriter of the film Imaginur, and Mr. Megat Sharizal, the lead actor of the film Walid. Other notable attendees included Prof. Ir. Dr. Zulfadzli Yusoff, Vice President of Market Exploration, Engagement & Touchpoint (MEET); Dr. Syed Sham Syed Ja’afar, General Manager of Support Services; Dr. Sy. Nurleyana Wafa Sy. Naguib Wafa, TAMU Club Advisor; Mdm. Sri Kusumawati Mohd Daud, Director of Student Lifestyle and Experience (STyLE); along with other distinguished MMU management and officers.
The “Sorak Sorai” production not only showcased the extraordinary talents of MMU students but also strengthened the bond between MMU and the broader community. It was a celebration of creativity, collaboration, and the performing arts, leaving a lasting impression on all who attended.
