The Faculty of Management (FOM) successfully organised two impactful Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives that fostered community engagement, promoted social responsibility, and nurtured collaboration between MMU students and the wider community.
On 2 January 2025, FOM students undertook a meaningful CSR activity at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Leftenan Adnan in Sungai Ramal, Kajang. This programme saw the participation of 38 students, guided by their lecturer, Dr. Farha Zafira Agos Lokman. The volunteers dedicated their day to painting the school’s interior and exterior walls, significantly enhancing the learning environment for the students.
The day began with a safety briefing led by the school’s headmaster, En. Nor Hairul Nizam b. Abu Sefian @ Basdzir, ensuring the volunteers were well-prepared for their tasks. The initiative not only beautified the school but also strengthened ties between MMU and the local community. The event’s success was further amplified by the involvement of Dr. Fairuz bin Abdul Rahim, an FOM lecturer and President of the school’s Parents and Teachers Association (PIBG).
On top of that, FOM students also conducted another heartwarming CSR programme at the Mintygreen Nursing Home in December 2024. A team of 28 student volunteers, led by Muhammad Izzudin and Muhammad Faiz from the Diploma in Management programme, brought festive cheer to the elderly residents during the holiday season.
Under the supervision of Dr. Farha Zafira Agos Lokman, the programme featured shared tea-time sessions, karaoke, and a lively game of bingo. These activities created an atmosphere of joy, fostering meaningful interactions between the volunteers and residents. The impact of the event was profound. Elderly residents expressed feelings of being valued and uplifted, while the student volunteers gained a deeper appreciation for the importance of elderly care. The nursing home staff expressed their heartfelt gratitude, highlighting the positive influence of the visit.
These CSR initiatives provided invaluable learning opportunities for FOM students, instilling a deeper sense of social responsibility and community engagement. Through these meaningful contributions, the students developed a greater appreciation for collaboration, empathy, and the importance of giving back to society.
