“CCTV”, a final year project by KITA Films, a group of students from the Faculty of Cinematic Arts (FCA) has been awarded the Krishen Jit Fund Grant of RM4,000 on 28 November 2024. This recognition not only celebrates the creativity and hard work of FCA students but also underscores the significance of nurturing homegrown talent in Malaysia’s arts and cultural landscape.
The Krishen Jit Fund was established to foster and support experimental and boundary-pushing creative work in Malaysia. Named in honor of the late Krishen Jit, a visionary theatre director and cultural icon, the fund celebrates his enduring legacy of championing original Malaysian art across diverse disciplines. His vision continues to inspire a new generation of creators to explore innovative modes of artistic expression and intervention.
For nearly two decades, the Krishen Jit Fund has been a cornerstone in Malaysia’s creative ecosystem. It has provided seed funding for a wide array of projects, ranging from theatre, dance, and music to film, animation, and contemporary art. The fund also supports critical initiatives such as archival research, training programs, and international exchanges, empowering practitioners to elevate their craft and contribute to Malaysia’s cultural identity on a global stage.
Receiving this grant is a significant milestone for “CCTV”, positioning it among the ranks of impactful creative projects supported by the fund. This achievement reflects not only the students’ dedication but also MMU’s commitment to nurturing future creative leaders.
Well done!
