On 25 September 2024, Sekolah Kebangsaan Pulau Meranti, in collaboration with lecturers from the Faculty of Management (FOM) hosted an inspiring workshop titled Design Thinking for Youth Leaders,” which engaged 100 Standard 6 students. This initiative, part of the faculty’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, aimed to introduce young minds to the concept of design thinking, encouraging them to think critically, creatively, and to build essential leadership skills.

Through a series of engaging activities, the workshop sought to foster self-confidence and improve communication among the students, offering them a platform to explore innovative ideas and apply them to real-world projects. The participants were guided by a team of experienced trainers, including Dr. Abby Ashraff Saprudin, Encik Zulkefli Yusop, Puan Noor Shahaliza Othman, Puan Norzarina Md Yatim, and Puan Nor Hazleza Mohamad. These trainers brought their collective expertise to ensure the workshop’s success, inspiring the students to think outside the box.

The hands-on sessions allowed students to work collaboratively, utilising design thinking techniques to tackle various challenges and generate creative solutions. This interactive approach not only sharpened their problem-solving abilities but also boosted their confidence, as they presented their ideas and actively participated in group discussions.

The Design Thinking for Youth Leaders workshop exemplified the FOM’s commitment to community engagement, offering a valuable opportunity for young participants to cultivate leadership, creativity, and communication skills. The event successfully prepared these students to become effective problem-solvers and innovators, equipping them with tools to navigate challenges and make meaningful contributions in the future.
