An exciting and vibrant event, Allianz Awesome Discovery Day took place at Multimedia University’s Cyberjaya campus on 12 September 2024. Coordinated by the Career Connect team, the event featured three major activities: a Basketball Tournament, the Allianz Young Entrepreneur Challenge, and the Allianz Young Entrepreneur Workshop. These activities brought together students from both the Cyberjaya and Melaka campuses for a day filled with competition, innovation, and personal growth.
The Basketball Tournament was a thrilling spectacle, with 12 male teams and 1 female team competing for glory. After a series of intense and closely fought matches, three male teams—Win or Go Home, Y.O.L.O, and 100plus—secured their spots in the semi-finals. The winning team will go on to represent the university in the grand finale at Pavilion Bukit Jalil in November 2024. Meanwhile, the female team, Chicken Little, automatically qualified for the final round, adding an exciting dynamic to the competition.
The second highlight of the day was the Allianz Young Entrepreneur Challenge at EDC Innolab. In this event, seven teams presented their innovative business ideas in person, while one team participated virtually. This challenge provided an excellent platform for students to pitch their entrepreneurial projects, receive valuable feedback from industry experts, and enhance their entrepreneurial skills. The three finalist teams—Mend from Within led by Ooi Kian Zhe, Kshean by Kirsheanrajh Suresh, and Moon by Hosh led by Hoormilla Nahooran—will go on to represent MMU in the grand finale of the challenge, also set to take place in November 2024 at Pavilion Bukit Jalil.
In addition to the competitive elements, the event featured an insightful talk titled “Cultivating Future Leaders,” held at the Faculty of Management (FOM) Theatre. The session was graced by two distinguished speakers from Allianz Malaysia: Mr. Laurent Haw, Head of Customer Advocacy, and Ms. Amy Loke, Chief Market Management Officer, who is also an alumna of MMU’s Bachelor of Accounting program. The speakers shared their perspectives on leadership, the value of embracing diversity, and how Allianz is playing a key role in shaping the next generation of business leaders.
To add a touch of fun and interactivity, students participated in various engaging activities where they collected stamps to exchange for exciting freebies. Activities such as AweZome Ride, AweZome Punch, AweZome You, and AweZome LEAP added an extra layer of excitement to the day. With a blend of sports, entrepreneurship, leadership development, and interactive games, Allianz Awesome Discovery Day created a dynamic and enriching environment, allowing students to grow, have fun, and take meaningful steps toward their future careers.
