On 6 August 2024, TM R&D, a subsidiary and research arm of Multimedia University (MMU), welcomed a delegation led by YB Tuan Chang Lih Kang, Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MOSTI), to its Innovation Centre in Cyberjaya. The visit was attended by Dato’ Zainal Abidin Putih, Chairman of TM; Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su’ud, Chairman of TM R&D and President of MMU; Dr. Sharlene Thiagarajah, Chief Executive Officer of TM R&D; along with other officers from MOSTI, MMU, and TM R&D.

During the visit, TM R&D showcased its latest technological innovations and celebrated the recent certification of six products under MOSTI’s MySTI programme. The MySTI inventory is a centralised platform that highlights locally developed, commercially viable products and services, reflecting the government’s commitment to nurturing domestic innovation and promoting Malaysian-made technology solutions. TM R&D’s inclusion in the MySTI programme underscores its critical role in advancing Malaysia’s technological sovereignty.

The MySTI certification, awarded to TM R&D’s solutions in May 2024, recognises the company’s development of homegrown technologies that address unique local challenges across various industries. This certification will enhance the visibility of TM R&D’s products in government procurement, bolstering local tech competitiveness, creating job opportunities, and attracting investment to Malaysia’s tech sector. The company’s emphasis on intellectual property and securing patents further strengthens Malaysia’s position in the global technology landscape. TM R&D’s solutions, tailored to meet Malaysian needs, contribute significantly to the country’s technological sovereignty and align with the government’s vision of a digitally empowered nation.
