On 8 June 2024, a group of lecturers and students from the Faculty of Business (FOB) inaugurated the first phase of the International Business Idea Competition -The Future Changemaker at Sekolah Tun Fatimah (STF) in Johor. Spearheaded by Mr. Vincent Chan, the competition is structured in three phases: Bootcamp, Mentor & Workshop sessions, and the Grand Final at MMU Melaka, all aimed at nurturing entrepreneurial skills and mindsets among students.
The initial phase saw the enthusiastic participation of 150 students from STF, engaging in activities designed to sharpen their business acumen. The bootcamp featured three insightful talk sessions, an intensive brainstorming session, and an exhilarating pitching session, offering students a comprehensive introduction to entrepreneurship. Participants exhibited remarkable dedication, innovation, and creativity in their business ideas, impressing both their peers and mentors.
The event benefited immensely from the involvement of 14 FOB students serving as facilitators, whose experiences from The Changemaker Academy proved invaluable in mentoring the participants. Additionally, nine esteemed FOB lecturers—Dr. Yeo Sook Fern, Dr. Hasmida bt Jamaluddin, Dr. Kogilah, Mr. Hasfaizal bin Hasan, Mr. Vincent Chan, Ms. Ikha Fadzila bt Md Idris, Ms. Nurainiah bt Abu Hasan, Ms. Nadrah bt Abu Hasan, and Ms. Anushia—actively participated as facilitators and judges, lending their expertise to the competition.
The bootcamp culminated in the selection of the Top 10 teams who will advance to Phases 2 and 3 of the competition. The Grand Final, set to be held at MMU Melaka in August, promises to be a showcase of refined entrepreneurial talent and innovation.
