On 21 May 2024, the Bursa Young Investor Club MMU Melaka embarked on an enriching educational visit to two iconic institutions in Malaysia’s financial landscape: the Museum Bank Negara Malaysia and Bursa Malaysia. 

Led by 39 enthusiastic students representing diverse fields including finance, accounting, digital business, IT, and law, the trip aimed to provide firsthand exposure to the workings of the financial sector. Accompanying the students were esteemed lecturers Mdm Hazlaili Hashim, Head of the Banking & Finance Department at FOB, alongside Mdm Siti Zarifah Amir and Mdm Fathiah Hashim, renowned finance educators. 

The visit commenced at the Museum Bank Negara Malaysia, where students delved into the country’s monetary history, gaining insights into the evolution of Malaysia’s financial system and its pivotal role in the economy. From ancient currencies to modern banking practices, the museum offered a captivating journey through time, fostering a deeper understanding of monetary policy and its impact on society. 

Subsequently, the group proceeded to Bursa Malaysia, the nation’s premier stock exchange, where they were immersed in the dynamic world of capital markets. Guided tours and interactive sessions provided students with a glimpse into stock trading, investment strategies, and the mechanisms driving market fluctuations. The visit ignited their curiosity and appreciation for the intricacies of financial markets, empowering them with practical knowledge applicable to their academic pursuits and future careers. 

Reflecting on the day’s experiences, Mdm Hazlaili Hashim expressed her satisfaction, stating, “The educational visit served as a catalyst for holistic learning, bridging theoretical knowledge with real-world applications. Witnessing the students’ engagement and enthusiasm reaffirms the value of experiential learning in nurturing tomorrow’s finance leaders.” 

The trip to Museum Bank Negara Malaysia and Bursa Malaysia undoubtedly left an indelible impression on the Bursa Young Investor Club, igniting their passion for finance and instilling a deeper appreciation for the role of financial institutions in driving economic prosperity.
