A webinar series on industrial talk was participated by students from the Faculty of Business (FOB) on 16 and 17 January 2024, respectively. Moderated by Mr. Vincent Chan, the session featured two inspirational two business founders namely Ms. Mei Ng, founder of the renowned Pet fashion brand “Petion” and Ms Sharlyn J, the founder of “Happy Works”, a youth development organisation. 

Ms. Mei elaborated on her resilience, recounting the initial setback of her  first business and the subsequent triumph leading to the establishment of Petion. Drawing from her personal experiences, she delved into the challenges faced and more importantly, how she overcame them. 

One of the highlights was the unveiling of the PDCA strategy (Plan-Do-Check-Act), emphasising its pivotal role in navigating the complexities of business. Attendees were captivated as she stressed the importance of emotional intelligence in decision-making, urging entrepreneurs to maintain a check-and-balance on their emotions for effective leadership.

Ms. Mei also underscored the significance of staying focused to eliminate distractions, emphasising its role as a vital component in achieving a company’s goals. Practical tips and real-world examples were shared, providing a roadmap for aspiring entrepreneurs to chart their paths to success.

Following this inspiring talk, the stage was continued by Ms. Sharlyn, where she shared on  her journey of volunteerism and the challenges she faced while leading a team of youth to carry out the activities. She also shared with the students a framework to success which is ABC (Activate-Build-Conquer). Together, these entrepreneurs left a lasting impact, leaving the audience motivated and armed with valuable insights to apply in their professional journeys.
