From 18th September 2017 until the 22nd, Multimedia University (MMU), in collaboration with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and GSMA, launched the 2017 Converged Telecommunications Policy and Regulations (CTPR) Master Class for ASEAN countries. This was held in partnership with Chulalongkorn University (CU) and the National Broadcasting and Telecommunication Commission of Thailand (NBTC) at the Al-Meroz Hotel, Bangkok, Thailand.
The week-long intensive programme was attended by participants from ASEAN countries and the Asia Pacific region. It covered five modules, namely Converged Policy and Collaborative Regulations; Managing Spectrum to Maximise Social and Economic Benefits; Emerging Technologies and Networks; Digital Business and Economics; as well as Smart Digital Nation, Cities and Communities .
It was specifically tailored to meet the needs of mid to senior level executives in national regulatory agencies, relevant government agencies, telecommunication service providers, ICT companies, and academia. In addition to the insightful sharing sessions, participants also went on an eye-opening visit to AIS, a top private telco provider in Thailand, where they shared their digital marketing roadmap. During the trip, they also had a stopover at the renowned Chulalongkorn University campus.
A total of 32 participants from Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Nepal, Brunei, Indonesia and Cambodia attended the programme. Professor Dr Hishamuddin Ismail, Vice President Academic and Internationalisation, MMU, considers this year’s event a success, as it not only achieved its objective of clarifying to participants the issues in the telecommunications industry, but also prominently places MMU as an important regional solutions provider. “Having a high ranking is good, but being recognized by the industry is even better, and this year’s CTPR Master Class takes us past a significant milestone,” he said.
Congratulations to everyone on the successful organisation of the Master Class!
