A total of 54 students from the Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET) attended a virtual industrial talk titled “Semiconductor Industry Career Path” on 16 November 2023. Organised by the Industrial Linkage Committee (ILC) of the faculty, the talk session was conducted by Mr Chee Howe Shien, Test Sourcing Manager, Texas Instruments Dallas. He graduated in the class of 2005 with a degree in Electronics Engineering, majoring in Computer. 

During the session, students gained exposure to various career paths within the semiconductor industry, along with important lessons aimed at benefiting those embarking on the next phase of their careers. Mr Chee Howe Shien also generously shared his firsthand experiences and advice for building a successful career in the semiconductor industry.  

He highlighted his journey from landing his first job as a product/test engineer with Texas Instruments Malaysia to his current role, leading the TI corporate sourcing strategy for probe and final test operations at Texas Instruments Dallas. Overall, the organiser would like to thank Mr. Chee Howe Shien for sharing his time and expertise, and it is hoped that this session has enriched our students’ understanding of the semiconductor industry.
