The Faculty of Creative Multimedia (FCM) celebrated the opening of the new exhibition titled “STAR PAVED X AIR TANGAN” at the E-Gallery on 2 November 2023. Dr. Sharlene Thiagarajah, Chief Executive Officer of TM R&D officiated the event. The STAR PAVED X “AIR TANGAN” consists of two art exhibitions combined to become one hybrid immersive exhibition. The first collection from Star Paved is a curated selection of 23 new media artworks that span from projections, virtual reality experiences and performances and NFT creations. Star Paved is presented by a Southeast Asia art collective named Copy Planet and led by curator James Ly who is a lecturer of FCM.

The second exhibition titled “Air Tangan” is a Krishen Jit Astro Fund grant 2019 recipient that features three artists exploring social and political definitions of “homes” curated by Dr Nursuliana binti Sulaiman who is also a lecturer of FCM. “Air Tangan” is a research exhibition that looks at the consumption and production of food as a central component of “home-making”. Collectively, these exhibitions span 5 weeks to celebrate and embrace artistic creativity with a technological twist.

Events such as guided tours, artist talks and lecture performances were slotted to accompany this stellar exhibition. E-Gallery emerges into its second year as a space with active cutting-edge exhibitions and programs, that are important initiatives as they allow for the tangible expression of critical dialogue and programming that extends outside of the classroom. Importantly, FCM leverages E-gallery as an execution engine to drive more creative research output and knowledge production the faculty is aiming for. The exhibition ended on 8 November 2023.
