A group of four students namely Lim Min Ying from the Faculty of Engineering (FOE), Jeffrey Quek Shue Yew from the Faculty of Business (FOB), Ng Jin Yang and Teh Ghee Ang from the Faculty of Information Science and Technology (FIST) won the Grand Prize together with 2 Honourable Mention Award specifically in Human Center and Innovation Scale across 47 universities in Malaysia on 6th December 2022 at Sofitel Kuala Lumpur, Damansara. 

Upon their winning, the team walked away with cash worth RM12,000, crystal trophies, and internship opportunities or conditional offers of employment with EY member firms in Malaysia. They received the prizes from Board of Directors in EY Malaysia and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Digital Penang. During the award ceremony, Lim Min Ying was not able to attend because she is representing MMU for an International Experience Course at Silpakorn University, Thailand.

Mentored by Mr. Vincent Chan, the MMU (MMUx) team defeated other teams from different varsities namely International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), HELP University, Monash University, University of Malaya (UM), Universiti Tun Hussien Onn, Universiti Sains Malaysia, University of Nottingham and Imperial College of London.

The EY Young Technology Professional Challenge in collaboration with SAP and Digital Penang aims to inculcate awareness among local students on how to apply enterprise technology in a business environment, cultivate innovation and growth in the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) workforce to support Malaysia’s digital plan and establish a network for young technologists to kick-start their career.
