We would like to extend our heartiest congratulations to Mohammed Hussein Saleh Mohammed Haram, our postgraduate student from the Faculty of Engineering (FOE) for receiving two awards at the international level due to his role as an Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineer (IEEE) volunteer.
On 20th November 2022, it was announced that Mohammed Hussein has been selected as one of the six recipients worldwide for the 2022 IEEE MGA Young Professional Achievement Award for his outstanding efforts in promoting professional, career, and membership development to IEEE student members towards Young Professional transition at the Section and Regional levels.
Before that, on 19th September 2022, Mohammed Hussein, who is a Master student, has been awarded the IEEE Larry K. Wilson Regional Student Activities Award 2022 which is presented due to his extraordinary accomplishments associated with student activities in IEEE Region 10 (Asia & Pacific).
Mohammed Hussein served as the Vice-Chair of Multimedia University Student Branch (MMU SB) in 2016. He then served as the Chair in 2017, Membership and Awards Chair in 2019 and currently serving as an Advisory Committee for the SB. At the university level, he has been involved in organising more than 250 events making him the most active student in the university according to the Director of Student Activities Division at the university over the past years.
In 2019, he went beyond the university campus with his contributions. He joined the Malaysia Section as the Student Representative helping SBs around Malaysia up until now. He also served as a Sub-committee for Malaysia Section Professional Activities and Industry Relations (PAIR) 2021 to strengthen the relevance of IEEE membership to industry.
He further joined other socialites and affinity groups such PES Malaysia as SYP Sub-committee, Consultants Network (CN) as Professional Activities Chair in 2020 and Secretary in 2021-2022 as well as an Auditor for Young Professionals Malaysia 2021-2022 ensuring that the AG is following IEEE bylaws and proper financing is taking place.
Mohammed has been top Malaysia members recruiter for the past years. On a regional level, he is currently serving as Lead Coordinator for IEEE Region 10 (Asia & Pacific) Young Professionals as well as a Committee Member in IEEE R10 Power and Energy (PES) Student Chapters Committee. He has been awarded on multiple occasions at the national and international levels in the past.
