Dr. Mardeni Roslee from the Faculty of Engineering (FOE) and the Research Institute of Digital Connectivity (RIDC) has made our university and Malaysia proud when he was awarded the prestigious International Excellence in Creativity Award from the National Inventics Institute of Romania on 19th May 2018.
In the event, the 10th European Exhibition of Creativity and Innovation, which hosted numerous recipients of awards in various categories, Dr. Mardeni was the only recipient receiving this special honour. Held at the Palace of Culture, Romania, the event was officially launched by Prof. Dr. Nicolae Burnete, Romania’s Minister of Research and Innovation.
The exhibition is world-renowned, the largest innovation-related event in Europe. It involves 35 countries including United States of America, United Kingdom, Poland, Portugal, Croatia, Turkey, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Russia, Ukraine, Morocco, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Korea, Taiwan, Vietnam, Indonesia and Thailand. It is a most prestigious gathering, aimed at recognising and strengthening the implementation of innovation and creativity, as well as highlighting outstanding contributions engineering.
At the event, Dr. Mardeni also won a Gold Medal (First Prize) with a project titled `Device to Device Communication for Realtime University Management Information System (D2D RUMIS).’ The team comprised Prof. Dr. Mohd. Ridzuan Mokhtar and Mr. Khairil Anuar, also from FOE. The project was evaluated by a panel of international jury members, based on the originality of the innovation, scientific return and opportunities, project feasibility, potential users and applications, risk management, market opportunities, social and economic impact to the world.
