A group of final-year Mechanical Engineering students from the Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET) attended a physical technical talk session, recently. The session was conducted by an industrial speaker from Daikin Research and Development Malaysia Sdn Bhd namely Dr. Chin Wai Meng, Head of Division (Development Support). Organised by the Industrial Linkage Committee (ILC) of FET, the speaker provided exposure and shared knowledge on good indoor air quality and meeting the engineering challenge to the audience.
Dr. Chin Wai Meng, who has 20 years of experience in heat transfer, heat exchangers, and refrigeration systems explained the importance of indoor air quality in the field of air-conditioning, in particular in the aspect of air ventilation, cleanliness, hygiene, and odor. The speaker also engaged the audience with some Q&A during the interactive session. The talk inspired the students to relate the knowledge gained from the thermo-fluid courses and apply the learned knowledge in designing the air-conditioning system for good indoor air quality that meets thermal comfort, health, and energy consumption requirements.
