On 16th August 2022, MMU and ZTE signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) for the continuous partnership between academia and industry at the Melaka campus. Signing the agreement were Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su’ud, President of MMU, and Mr. Steven Ge, Managing Director of ZTE (M) Corp. Sdn. Bhd. This pact has strengthened the long-standing relationship between both parties, where it was initiated in 2016.

The Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET) also organised many collaborative events and activities with ZTE including sharing sessions, curriculum embedment programmes, internships, and many others. For this event, ZTE has sponsored RM70,000 for MMU in organising ZTE IoT Innovation Challenge in December 2022. This competition is open to all university students nationwide in proposing IoT solutions to certain real-world problems. ZTE has also graciously agreed to extend the agreement in providing scholarships to MMU students until 2026. Not only that, MMU’s smart campus innovation could be promoted by integrating the latest 5G and IoT solutions from ZTE. The university also has deployed a 100% solar-powered outdoor campus WiFi within MMU, which is also involved FET students under the supervision of Prof. Ir. Dr. Lim Heng Siong. 

Also attending the event were  Prof. Dr. Wong Eng Kiong, Vice President of Student Experience and Entrepreneurship Development (SEED); Dr. Mohd Rizal Abdul Razak, Campus Director of MMU Melaka; En. Izad Ismail, Director of Yayasan Universiti Multimedia (YUM);; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ervina Efzan Mhd. Noor, Director of Industry Collaboration and Engagement Centre (ICEC); Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fazly Salleh Abas, Dean of FET, and other MMU officers.
