A group of students from the Faculty of Business (FOB) attended a workshop by Kakitangan.com, the leading Malaysian Cloud Payroll and HR Software provider for SMEs, recently. A two-day workshop provided insights on the big dos and dont’s in dealing with payroll and common mistakes in processing payroll that could have companies paying heavy penalties. The workshop was conducted by Mr. Nizam Shari, an experienced HR expert with over 22 years of experience.
He is the advisor for almost 3,000 companies that Kakitangan.com handles. He shared with the students the compliance laws and important statutory contributions in Malaysia which include responsibility and payments that are liable and not liable for EPF, SOSCO, EIS, and HRDF contributions. The workshop enables the participants, particularly the Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons.) Human Resource Management students to engage with the industry and at the same time gain further knowledge on understanding income tax deduction, employer’s responsibility, tax relief, and calculating tax and to be exposed to modern HR software tools.
Digitization is advancing at such a rapid pace that businesses and HR professionals must be prepared for the changes posed by technology and Industry 4.0. This workshop is one of the initiatives by the university that bridges the gap between academia and industry towards preparing MMU graduates who are industry-ready graduates. The organiser also extended the appreciation to Mr. Nizam Shari and Mr. Wilson Goh for sharing their valuable insights with the students.
