The Faculty of Business (FOB) hosted two industrial advisor visits for Diploma in Accounting and Diploma in Business Administration (DiBA) on 8th September 2021 and 1st September 2021, respectively. The virtual sessions aimed to evaluate whether the academic curriculum of the programme, academic staff, educational resources and the university’s Quality Management Systems (QMS) are at par with the best practices to meet the current needs of the industries.

Mr. Faruq Arif Tajul Ariffin, the Senior Vice President, Investigation & Shariah Audit of Ambank Group is the industrial advisor panel for Diploma in Accounting. Mr. Faruq, who is also our Permata Dunia, was conferred with a degree in Bachelor of Accounting (Hons) in 2009. The visit started with a welcoming note from Dr. Lye Chun Teck, the FOB Dean. The session continued with a briefing on the programme by the Programme Coordinator, Madam Norliza Binti Darus. Also attending the session were Ms. Nun Shwu Huey, the Deputy Dean of Academic & International Relations II, and Ms. Norainy Binti Abdul Razak, the Deputy Programme Coordinator of Diploma in Accounting.

During the session, Mr. Faruq experienced a 360o virtual tour around the Melaka campus. He also interviewed some students and staff from the programme. Mr. Faruq was also briefed on the academic curriculum and quality management system implemented in the faculty. Overall, Mr. Faruq was satisfied with the visit and the development and content of the programme, especially on the collaboration between the university and the professional accounting bodies.

Another industrial advisor visit was also held earlier for Diploma in Business Administration (DiBA). Mr. Wilking Lim Wei King, who is currently a Board of Director of Puncak Heights Development Sdn. Bhd; the Director of McDonald Carter Corporate Services Sdn. Bhd and the Managing Director of Yakuhin Industries (M) Sdn. Bhd. spent his valuable time with the DiBA Unit staff and students.

During the virtual session, the staff and students were given a chance to have an interactive session with Mr Wilking Lim Wei King, which enabled the industrial advisory panel to gain more insights into the programme.  It is worth noting that Mr Wilking Lim is also our Permata Dunia (MMU Alumni), who was conferred with a degree in Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) Entrepreneurship in 2009.

The session was led by Dr Subhacini Subramaniam, the Programme Coordinator.  Also present during the session were Dr Lye Chun Teck,  Ms Nun Shwu Huey, and Ms Lee Chai Har, the Deputy Programme Coordinator of Diploma in Business Administration.
