Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su’ud, the President of MMU officiated the launching ceremony of the International Business Idea Challenge (IBIC) 2021 on 21 August 2021. Organised by the Faculty of Business (FOB), the IBIC 2021 comprises of two competitions namely the International Young Social Entrepreneurs Competition (IYSEC) and the International e-Business & Entrepreneurship Idea Showcase (eBES).
In his speech, Prof. Dato’ Mazliham stated that the competition offered a great platform to assist the young generation to embark on an entrepreneurial journey. It is in line with the objective of the competition, where it is aimed at exposing students to entrepreneurship skills through generating business ideas and providing opportunities for the students to pitch their ideas. With its theme ‘Digitalising Business in the New Norm’, IBIC 2021 is quite different this year when students from local and international schools are encouraged to participate in this international competition. Not only that, the organiser also will conduct several entrepreneurial workshops and mentor sessions in preparing the participants to compete in the competition.
The launching ceremony was hosted by Mr. Afandi Yusof, and Dr. Lye Chun Teck, the dean of FOB also delivered his welcoming remarks to the audience. The session was continued with Mr. Tan Gek Siang, the Programme Coordinator of IBIC 2021 to explain the nature of the competition to the audience. Also attending the launching ceremony were Mr. Zambri Pawanchik, Vice President of Strategic Marketing, Admission and Recruitment (SMART); Dr. Ong Jeen Wei, Director of Alumni Engagement, Career, and Entrepreneurship (ACED); Dr. Siti Zakiah Melatu Samsi, Chairperson of IBIC 2021, MMU staff as well as future participants of IBIC 2021.
