MMU Grüne Welt from the Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET) has made our country and university proud when the team emerged as the only Malaysian team winning the Off-Track Award for Asia Pacific Region. Under the leadership of Dr. Lim Boon Kian and Dr. Liew Kia Wai, the team was announced as the Runner-up for the Prototype Vehicle Design Award in the virtual Shell Eco-Marathon Asia 2021, recently. The team received USD750 together with 100 Virtual League Points. With these league points earned, MMU Grüne Welt is now currently ranked 10th in the Asia Pacific Region and 30th globally.
Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, Shell Eco-Marathon 2021 adopts a unique model that involves new and exciting virtual opportunities, all with the continued goal of addressing an age-old problem that focuses on improving vehicles’ efficiency to travel as far as possible using as little energy as possible. Various events were held such as Pitch the Future, Virtual Technical Inspection, Virtual Off-Track awards, and several Bonus Challenges which were totally different from the past Shell Eco-Marathon events. MMU team is being persistent in competing and continuing the legacy of the team by fabricating their very own Eco-V7 battery-electric prototype vehicle for this competition.
MMU Grüne Welt will definitely strive for the best in the upcoming events to unlock more achievements and better ranking throughout the end of Shell Eco-Marathon Asia 2021.
