The “LadyBug Bot: An Exciting Robotics Adventure for Young Innovators” workshop was successfully held at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Seri Duyong, Melaka, engaging 34 enthusiastic Form 2 students in an immersive robotics learning experience on 26 February 2025. Organised by the Faculty of Engineering & Technology (FET) as part of its University Social Responsibility (USR) initiative, the workshop was led by Ts. Dr. Nur Hasanah Ali, with the support of esteemed facilitators Ts. Nur Asyiqin Amir Hamzah, Ms. Goh Wei Wei, and Ms. Noradzilah Ismail.

This programme was further strengthened through a strategic collaboration with Roboforce, an industry company in robotics and automation. Roboforce provided technical insights, real-world applications, and industry expertise, offering students a unique opportunity to learn from professionals in the field. Their involvement enriched the learning experience by bridging academic knowledge with industry practices, reinforcing the relevance of robotics in today’s technological landscape.

Participants were tasked with directing their robots to assist a ‘blinded’ teammate, reinforcing the importance of precision, communication, and empathy in technology-driven solutions. Beyond building and programming their own robots, students gained valuable insights into how robotics can address real-world challenges, particularly in supporting individuals with disabilities.

By fostering curiosity and hands-on learning in STEM education, this workshop highlighted MMU’s commitment to innovative teaching, social responsibility, and industry collaboration. The partnership with Roboforce not only enhanced the students’ exposure to practical robotics applications but also strengthened the link between academia and industry, preparing the next generation of engineers and problem-solvers.
