On 8 January 2025, the Trash to Cash event, themed “Anda Kitar, Kami Bayar,” was successfully held at Dataran Permata, MMU Melaka. This initiative aimed to promote recycling and waste management while supporting key Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) such as Responsible Consumption, Climate Action, Sustainable Cities, Economic Growth, and Partnerships. The event encouraged the reuse of materials such as fabric, electronics, and cooking oil, reduced landfill waste and emissions, raised awareness about sustainable practices, and provided economic incentives for recycling to foster community engagement.

Organised by the Facilities and Management Department (FMD) Melaka, led by Ms. Norashimah Harun, in collaboration with diploma students from the Faculty of Business (FOB) under the Personal Social Responsibility (PSR) program, headed by Ms. Ikha Fadzila binti Md Idris, the event also partnered with SWCorp. Staff and students actively participated by assisting in sorting and weighing recyclable items, demonstrating creative ways to repurpose materials, and engaging in pre-interview sessions to better understand recycling habits.

The event successfully collected 62.5 kg of e-waste, 223 kg of used cooking oil, 218 kg of cloth and fabric, and approximately 150 kg of bottles, paper, and aluminum cans. These outcomes highlighted how waste can be transformed into valuable resources. The Trash to Cash event fostered community engagement, promoted eco-friendly practices, and made a meaningful contribution to environmental conservation.

Together, let us continue working toward a cleaner, greener future!
