MMU and SDS AI Lab Sdn Bhd have taken a significant step towards strengthening the nation’s talent pool by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop AI engineers and integrated circuit (IC) design specialists. The MoU was formalised on 17 January 2025 at Cyberjaya campus, with the pact signed by Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su’ud, President of MMU, and YM Dato’ Syed Haizam Hishamuddin Putra Jamalullail, Director of SDS AI Lab Sdn Bhd.
This strategic partnership aims to address the growing demand for skilled professionals in cutting-edge technologies. Beyond talent production, the collaboration will focus on upskilling programmes designed for academia, students, fresh graduates, and working professionals. The initiatives will include a wide range of activities such as forums, seminars, workshops, mentorship programmes, and joint research and development projects. These efforts are part of a comprehensive approach to talent development, aligning with the evolving needs of the industry.
The signing ceremony was also attended by Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Junaidi Abdullah, Dean of the Faculty of Computing and Informatics, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ooi Chee Pun, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, alongside faculty members and other distinguished guests. This collaboration signifies a pivotal move in nurturing future-ready talent while fostering innovation and excellence in artificial intelligence and IC design.
