A team from the Faculty of Engineering (FOE) demonstrated exceptional innovation at the Shell Selamat Sampai Varsity Challenge (SSSV) 2024, securing fifth place and earning a cash prize of RM1,000. The team, comprising three Bachelor of Engineering students and one Foundation in Engineering student, was mentored by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tan Wooi Haw. Their performance stood out as they impressed the judges with a creative solution and a well-crafted prototype demonstration during the Grand Finale held on 4 December 2024.

SSSV 2024 is an inter-varsity road safety innovation competition that fosters collaboration between academia and industry. The event attracted 40 teams from 20 public universities and six technical-based private universities, each striving to present groundbreaking solutions to road safety challenges. The competition unfolded across three rigorous stages, beginning with the concept proposal submission, where teams showcased their initial ideas and technical frameworks. This was followed by a video presentation round, which highlighted the practical applications and feasibility of their solutions and concluded with the final pitching and judging session.

This success reflects MMU’s commitment to nurturing innovative thinkers and problem-solvers ready to address real-world challenges. Their journey in the competition exemplifies a synergy of innovation, creativity, and technical expertise, placing MMU firmly on the map of engineering excellence.

Well done!
