MMU achieved new milestones at the Huawei Malaysia National ICT Competition Award Ceremony, held on 3 December 2024, at the Palm Garden Hotel, Putrajaya. The event was officiated by Datuk Ts. Mustapha Sakmud, Deputy Minister of Higher Education (MoHE), and brought together top institutions and individuals driving excellence in ICT education and innovation.
MMU’s role as an ICT Academy Support Center (IASC) was formally recognised during the ceremony, with Prof. Ir. Dr. Zulfadzli Yusoff, Vice President, Market Exploration, Engagement and Touchpoint (VP MEET) receiving the certificate of appreciation on behalf of the university from Datuk Ts. Mustapha. Further solidifying its reputation, MMU was named among the Top 6 Most Outstanding ICT Academies of 2024 in Malaysia. Prof. Ir. Dr. Wong Hin Yong, Vice President of Academic and Internationalisation (VP AIR) accepted this accolade from Dato’ Seri Ir. Dr. Zaini Bin Ujang, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE).
Adding to MMU’s success, two academic staff members from the Faculty of Computing and Informatics (FCI)—Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ng Kok Why and Dr. Nicole Lee Fong Yee—were honored with the Most Dedicated Instructor 2024 award by Huawei Malaysia. This recognition reflects their unwavering commitment to nurturing the next generation of ICT professionals. Dr. Nicole Lee’s mentorship was further celebrated as three of her FCI students, namely Chow Shu Ling, Hee Kai Wen and Gavin Yee Hou Jien secured the Third Prize in the Computing Track of the Huawei ICT Competition, showcasing MMU’s talent and innovation on a national stage. Additionally, Prof. Dr. Lau Siong Hoe from the Faculty of Information Science & Technology (FIST) added a touch of excitement by winning a lucky draw prize sponsored by VSTECS during the event. These achievements underscore MMU’s excellence in ICT education and its dedication to producing industry-ready graduates.
