Prof. Ir. Dr. Mohammad Faizal Ahmad Fauzi, Director of Research Management Centre (RMC) and Professor from the Faculty of Engineering (FOE) was honoured to receive the 2024 Top Research Scientist Malaysia (TSRM) award. The award is an initiative of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM) to identify and recognise the local leading research scientists in Malaysia. The goal of this initiative is to establish and showcase the Top Research Scientists Malaysia profile that would act as a central point of reference for the leading Malaysian research scientists and their research backgrounds.
Prof. Mohammad Faizal is an expert in signal and image processing, machine learning, and artificial intelligence (AI). For the last 15 years, he has focused his expertise on medical and health applications, specifically in digital pathology and cancer diagnosis. He is among the pioneer in digital and computational pathology research in Malaysia by establishing the Artificial Intelligence for Digital Pathology (AI4DP) research excellence consortium. This TRSM recognition reflects Prof. Mohammad Faizal’s outstanding contributions and achievements in this field, underscoring his role as a leader in advancing science, technology, and innovation.
