On 20 December 2024, 37 engineering students from the Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET) participated in an industrial visit to Konica Minolta Business Technologies (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd., located in Ayer Keroh, Melaka. The event was organised by the Industrial Linkage Committee (ILC) of the faculty.
The session began with a company profile presentation and safety briefing conducted by Ms. Aina Syarmila binti Nazaruddin, Business Innovation Officer. Konica Minolta specialises in a wide range of printing machines, including office printing, production printing, and industrial printing machines.
The session continued with a factory tour, during which the students were divided into two groups and guided by the company’s engineers. Led by Mr. Mohd Mohsein bin Ridzuan, Manager of Product Development, five engineers provided detailed technical explanations of the manufacturing processes involved in producing the printing machines.
The tour covered several key processes, including the toner box automation process, DR (Drum) auto-cleaning blade assembly improvement, DR inspection machine operations, and the auto-racking process.
This visit was beneficial for the students, offering first-hand experience and valuable insights into the application of automation technologies, such as robotic arms and Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs), in the manufacturing industry.
