On 12 December 2024, the Center for Image and Vision Computing (CIVC) hosted an International Research Seminar 2024 under the France-Malaysia Collaboration Programme for Joint Research. The seminar gathered the researchers from Multimedia University (MMU), Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL), and University of La Rochelle, France to share their findings from the research projects.
It highlighted the advancements in intelligent image and vision computing and process mining. MMU lecturer, Shahbe Md. Desa presented her joint research work on small object detection in aerial images, which was co-supervised by Dr. Wan Noorshahida Mohd Isa from FCI, MMU and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Petra Gomez-Kramer from University of La Rochelle. Other presenters were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Megat Farez Azril (UniKL), Dr. Marwa Trabelsi-Hamdi (University of La Rochelle) and Mr. Zaka Ur Rehman (CIVC postgraduate).
The seminar was officiated by the Dean of FCI, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Junaidi Abdullah and was officially closed by the honourable guest, Dr Valerie Barbosa, the Attachée for Science and Higher Education from the Embassy of France to Malaysia. The event was also attended by Prof. Dato Dr Mazliham Mohd Su’ud, President of MMU and Prof. Ir. Dr. Muhammad Faizal Ahmad Fauzi, the Director of Research Management Centre (RMC). Having such seminar provided a platform for knowledge sharing through international collaboration, paving the way for future collaborative projects that will strengthen and benefit Malaysia and France.
