On 24 November 2024, the Youth Partner Development Division (BPRM) of the National Department of Youth and Sports (JBSN), in collaboration with Sekretariat Rakan Muda MMU (SRM MMU), successfully launched the Rakan Demokrasi Kuasa Orang Muda (RD:KOM) Program at the MMU Cinema, Cyberjaya campus. The event was graced by Ts. Dr. Nagulendran Kangayatkarasu, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS), who officiated the launch.
The RD:KOM program is an educational initiative designed to raise awareness and encourage youth to become active citizens by participating in democratic processes. Grounded in the “Rakan Demokrasi Lifestyle,” the program aims to increase understanding of the role young people can play in shaping the nation’s democracy.
The half-day interactive session offered participants valuable insights on democracy, the significance of every vote, and the immense power that lies within the youth. The event also marked the symbolic launch of 100 RD:KOM programs to be implemented nationwide by partner organisations. SRM MMU played a crucial role in supporting the event’s organization, ensuring its success and outreach.
The ceremony was attended by notable figures, including Pn. Azura binti Abidin, Director-General of JBSN; En. Syamsul Tahrin bin Mohd Tahir, Deputy Director-General (Youth Partners) of JBSN; and Pn. Sri Kusuma Wati binti Mohd Daud, Director of the Social Transformation and Youth Leadership Centre (STyLE) at MMU.
