The Student Lifestyle & Experience (STyLE) department and the Secretariat Rakan Muda (SRM) recently held a productive meeting with Pn. Noraniza Shuib, Deputy Director of Operations at the Election Commission of Malaysia (SPR), at Wisma Persekutuan Melaka.

Leading the discussion were Afiq Danial Mohd Sukri, President of SRM, and his team, along with representatives from STyLE. The meeting centered on the development and implementation of a University Social Responsibility (USR) initiative aimed at educating school students about the Malaysian electoral system.

The SRM team presented the programme’s objectives and detailed execution plan, which will involve two schools and is scheduled to take place in December 2024 and January 2025. This collaborative effort is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the electoral process, emphasising the importance of civic duty and fostering greater political awareness among the younger generation.

By offering valuable insights into the workings of Malaysia’s electoral system, this initiative aims to empower students with knowledge and inspire active participation in democratic processes. This collaboration underscores the commitment of both SRM and SPR to nurture informed and responsible future voters.
