Over 3,000 students from various faculties attended the “ESG Talk @ MMU”, where MMU’s Pro-Chancellor, YBhg Academician Tan Sri Dr. Zakri Abdul Hamid, shared his extensive knowledge on the role of science diplomacy in advancing Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles on 15 November 2024. The event took place at Dewan Tun Canselor at the Cyberjaya campus, kicking off with a warm welcome from Prof. Ir. Dr. Zulfadzli Yusoff, Vice President of Market Exploration, Engagement & Touchpoint (MEET).
In his presentation titled “Achieving ESG through Science Diplomacy,” Tan Sri Dr. Zakri captivated the audience by highlighting how scientific collaboration and diplomatic efforts can drive sustainable development and address global challenges. He emphasised the need for integrating scientific expertise into policymaking to achieve long-term ESG goals. The insightful talk inspired students to consider the critical role of science in shaping a more sustainable and equitable future. Organised by the Learning Institute for Empowerment (LIfE), the event was also attended by Puan Nor Adni Ismail, Vice President of Finance and Business Ventures, Dr. Ong Sue Lyn, Director of LIfE, government agency representatives and faculty members.
