Two students from the Faculty of Computing and Informatics (FCI), Abimanyu Sivasankar and Rohini Manivannan secured fourth place in the highly competitive Digital Spark Challenge held at the JW Marriott Hotel, Jakarta, in October 2024.

Organised by ASEAN in collaboration with the Australian government, this Ideathon provided a platform for youth from ASEAN Member States (AMS), Timor-Leste, and Australia to exchange insights and pitch innovative strategies to combat the spread of fake news through impactful social media campaigns.

Competing against 24 talented teams from 12 countries, the MMU team distinguished themselves by advancing to the final stage of the competition. In a showcase of creativity and problem-solving, they emerged as one of the top six finalists and ultimately secured fourth place—a commendable achievement that highlights their dedication and skill.

In addition to their success, Abimanyu and Rohini had the privilege of visiting the ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta, providing them with valuable exposure to regional collaboration efforts and initiatives.

Congratulations to Abimanyu and Rohini for their outstanding performance and for making both the university and the nation proud!
