MMU celebrated Deepavali with flair, joy, and a strong sense of community at its Cyberjaya campus on 6 November 2024. Organized by the Human Capital Management Division (HCM), the Student Lifestyle & Experience (STyLE) Department, and MESRA, the event drew staff, students, and management together to honor the spirit of Deepavali, the festival of lights, in a vibrant and inclusive gathering.

MMU President, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su’ud, graced the event by lighting a ceremonial lamp placed in a colorful kolam, a decorative arrangement symbolising prosperity and welcoming blessings. The president’s gesture highlighted the university’s commitment to celebrating its diverse community and honoring traditional customs, bringing warmth and light to the celebration.

The evening featured captivating cultural performances by students, celebrating the richness of Deepavali traditions. A highlight of the event was a stunning performance by a student from the Faculty of Applied Communication (FAC), who recently gained recognition as a finalist in Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Season 4, a highly regarded reality singing competition in India. Among 30,000 contestants from around the world, she was the only representative from Malaysia, making her an inspiration and source of pride for the entire MMU community.

Attendees were treated to a festive array of traditional foods, reflecting the diverse flavors and culinary heritage of Deepavali. The audience joined in the celebration, mingling and enjoying the vibrant atmosphere. This gathering allowed the MMU community to embrace the values of unity and inclusiveness that define the university’s culture.
