MMU and the Jabatan Pendidikan Negeri (JPN) Melaka have once again joined forces to organise the “Program Mengilap Permata Harapan (MPH)” for the Melaka state level in 2024. The officiating and closing ceremony for the MPH program took place at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Sungai Udang.

The event was attended by Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su’ud, President of MMU, who delivered an inspiring speech to the audience. The ceremony was graced by Tuan Haji Jamsari bin Mariman from JPN Melaka. This collaboration follows the success of their first joint initiative, the “Program Anak Yang Baik Lagi Cerdik” (ABC), where the main objectives were met, including reducing cases of truancy and student dropouts, as well as raising awareness among last year’s Form 5 students about the critical importance of attending the SPM examination, the most significant exam in their academic lives.

The MPH program not only emphasizes the importance of the SPM examination but also provides students with valuable insights into opportunities for further studies at the higher education level after SPM. Through this initiative, students received comprehensive information about MMU’s diverse program offerings, admission requirements, and available educational sponsorships and scholarships for eligible applicants who wish to continue their studies at MMU post-SPM. In collaboration with JPN Melaka, the Student Recruitment Office (SRO) team visited 50 schools across the state to engage with Form 5 students, delivering informative sessions designed to inspire and guide them in planning their academic futures.

This programme has significantly aided students in exploring their academic pathways for tertiary education. Also present at the event were Prof. Dr. Wong Eng Kiong, Vice President of Student Experience & Entrepreneurship Development (SEED) and Melaka Campus Director; Mdm Nalini Pragasam, Director of the Student Recruitment & Admission Department (SRAD); and other officials.

This continued collaboration between MMU and JPN Melaka exemplifies their commitment to fostering student development and providing essential resources to help students succeed in their educational journeys.
