In celebration of Hangul Day on October 9, the King Sejong Institute (KSI)- MMU Melaka organised a Hangul Writing Contest on 19 October 2024. The event attracted 77 participants from KSI MMU Melaka students, as well as 45 members of the public. Participating schools included Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Sungai Udang, SMK Tinggi Perempuan Melaka, SMK Ayer Keroh, and SMK Tinggi St. David.

The contest was divided into two groups—KSI students and non-KSI participants—who were tasked with writing four Korean words (Hangul) clearly and creatively on the contest sheet. Prior to the competition, all participants enjoyed a 30-minute warm-up session to practice their Hangul writing. KSI MMU Melaka students had an additional challenge, where they were asked to write their names in Hangul on a provided postcard.

In the KSI student category, Guan Jie Yi from SMK Tinggi St. David claimed the top prize, while Nur Aleeya Zulaikha binti Herman from SMK Sungai Udang emerged as the winner in the non-KSI category. Both winners received prizes valued at RM200, including Korean body care products.

In addition to the main contest, the organizers conducted a fun quiz for participants, with the quiz winner taking home a Korean pouch filled with a traditional hair pin and a Hangul keyring. Each participant also received a goodie bag containing KSI MMU Melaka merchandise and a certificate of participation.

Congratulations to all participants and winners!
