On 10 November 10 2024, the Faculty of Law (FOL) welcomed a delegation from Universitas Ngurah Rai, Bali, Indonesia, for an enriching academic visit and collaborative research session. The primary objective of this engagement was to foster academic exchange and explore potential joint research initiatives between the two institutions. The visit included a series of research presentations and discussions focused on contemporary and emerging legal issues faced in both Malaysia and Indonesia. This session not only strengthened the ties between the institutions but also laid the groundwork for future collaborative projects that promise to enhance the educational and research experience for students and academics on both sides.
Another significant visit took place on 21 November 2024, with Universitas Islam Riau, Indonesia. This session emphasised comparative legal studies and provided a platform for faculty members from both universities to engage in meaningful dialogue and explore intersections of legal systems as well as aim to identify areas of shared interest for future research collaboration. The discussions also highlighted the importance of interdisciplinary approaches in addressing complex legal challenges, paving the way for potential joint research proposals.
Together, these sessions not only reinforced the commitment of both MMU and their Indonesian counterparts to promote academic excellence but also underscored the importance of international collaboration in legal education. Such initiatives are vital for fostering a global perspective among students and faculty, ultimately contributing to the development of legal thought and practice in the region.
