Abimanyu Sivasankar, our student from the Faculty of Computing and Informatics (FCI) at MMU, led a powerful social impact initiative with his team from Malaysia and Cambodia. Together, they organised a workshop titled “CyberSisters: Empowering Teen Girls Against Cyberbullying” in October 2024. This impactful project was supported by a grant from the U.S. Embassy under the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) and in collaboration with the United Nations Youth Advisory Panel Cambodia.

The workshop, held at the American Corner in Siem Reap Province at the University of South-East Asia, attracted over 40 teenage participants from across the province. The session focused on raising awareness about cyberbullying, its effects on mental health, particularly for women, and practical strategies to combat it. In addition to the workshop, Abimanyu and his team launched a social media campaign to continue spreading education and awareness, and shared inspiring stories of change through publications aimed at advocating for a safer digital environment.

Well done, Abimanyu, for leading such a noble and impactful initiative.
