A total of 13 companies participated in a mini career day, known as CAREER CONNECTIONS, held at the Learning Point, Siti Hasmah Digital Library (SHDL), Cyberjaya campus on 13 November 2024. Organised by Career Connect in collaboration with Career Express Club, the event provided a platform for students to expand their networks and enhance their professional development.
Among the participating companies were Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN), Public Bank, Dataxet Sdn Bhd, Hap Seng Management Service Sdn Bhd, Kibing Group, Interviewer AI, and several others. The event allowed students to engage with industry representatives, gaining valuable insights into potential career pathways and industry trends. Additionally, students explored job and internship opportunities, submitting their resumes for consideration.
They were also enlightened with valuable financial knowledge through a session titled “Pillars of Financial Literacy”, presented by Mr. Kong Dickson, a Permata Dunia from the Faculty of Business (FOB) , and Mr. Tan Wei Hoa, the Business Development Manager at J Group. The session provided a comprehensive overview of financial literacy, emphasising the importance of effective money management through four essential pillars: debt management, savings, budgeting, and investing.
The talk began with a lively ice-breaking activity to engage participants, setting a positive tone for the sharing session that followed. The speakers aimed to inspire students to take control of their financial futures, offering practical guidance on budgeting, saving, and investing to achieve financial independence. By incorporating real-life examples and actionable strategies, the session sought to equip students with both the mindset and tools needed for a stable and prosperous financial journey.
The event concluded with a session on career opportunities at Public Bank, titled “Early Careers @ Public Bank”, led by Mr. Jeremy Chong from the Human Capital Management team. Mr. Jeremy highlighted various career opportunities available for fresh graduates and internship seekers. Public Bank’s Internship Program is structured to provide students with hands-on experience in the banking environment. Interns work on real projects and are entrusted with responsibilities that allow them to learn directly from experienced professionals in their fields.
This industry sharing session proved invaluable, offering students insightful perspectives and practical knowledge from industry experts, enriching their understanding of potential career trajectories and fostering meaningful connections with potential employers.
