We are thrilled to announce that “Thanimai,” a short film produced by Tittle Tattle Production as part of the Faculty of Cinematic Arts’ final year project, has won the 2nd Runner-Up position at the Astro Ulagam Short Film Contest 2024. The competition was incredibly fierce, with numerous impressive submissions from filmmakers across the country.
Astro Ulagam, in collaboration with Astro Vaanavil, organised this contest to celebrate Deepavali 2024, providing a prestigious platform for emerging directors to showcase their creative talents. Open to all Malaysian filmmakers, the contest invited short films centered around the theme of Deepavali. Tittle Tattle Production’s outstanding achievement was recognized with a cash prize of RM6,000.00.
An exclusive premiere of “Thanimai” will be screened on Astro Vaanavil (Ch 201) on October 30, 2024, at 8:45 PM. The film poignantly portrays the story of an elderly woman struggling with the harsh reality of loneliness in her old age. Despite having a son, she finds herself burdened with household responsibilities during a season that should be filled with joy and celebration, highlighting the emotional distance and isolation she endures.
